Episode 2
Trusting God Amidst Uncertainty: A Call to Great Faith
The salient point of our discussion centers on the concept of great faith, as exemplified by the Canaanite woman in Matthew 15:21-28. We delve into her unwavering belief in Jesus despite facing rejection and silence from Him. This narrative serves as a poignant reminder that true faith often requires perseverance, especially when confronted with seemingly insurmountable obstacles. The woman's resolute approach, characterized by her act of worship prior to receiving help, underscores the importance of maintaining faith and trust in God irrespective of the circumstances we face. We invite you to reflect on your own faith journey and consider how you can demonstrate unwavering belief, particularly in challenging times.
The discourse presented revolves around the profound theme of faith, accentuated through the narrative of a Canaanite woman seeking Jesus for her daughter's deliverance. The speaker, Minister Baxter, delves into the text from Matthew 15:21-28, elucidating the woman's unwavering determination despite facing initial rejection. Her plight serves as a poignant reminder that faith often requires persistence, especially in the face of adversity. Minister Baxter emphasizes the importance of focusing one's belief solely on Jesus, eschewing the notion of backup plans that dilute one's faith. This narrative invites listeners to contemplate their own faith journeys, urging them to adopt a posture of worship even amidst trials, as such worship, according to Baxter, can lead to divine intervention. The overarching message is a clarion call to embrace great faith, fostering a reliance on Jesus that transcends all earthly concerns.
In a compelling exploration of faith's intricacies, Minister Baxter recounts the encounter between Jesus and a Canaanite woman, underscoring the challenges she faced as an outsider imploring the Messiah for help. The speaker articulates the emotional turmoil of feeling ignored by God, a sentiment many believers can resonate with. Baxter's reflections on the woman's refusal to be deterred by societal and spiritual rejection highlight a critical aspect of faith: the willingness to approach God with sincerity and humility, regardless of circumstances. He contrasts the woman's faith with the distractions of modern life, encouraging listeners to eliminate backup plans that may hinder one's complete trust in God. This episode not only examines the narrative's biblical significance but also serves as a practical guide for believers striving to deepen their faith amidst life's complexities, ultimately reinforcing the notion that true faith is often tested and refined through trials.
The podcast episode intricately weaves together biblical exposition and personal encouragement, focusing on the Canaanite woman’s tenacious faith as depicted in Matthew 15:21-28. Minister Baxter invites his audience to reflect on their relationship with Jesus, particularly during times of despair when divine silence feels palpable. He posits that worship, even in the face of rejection, is a powerful act of faith that can provoke a divine response. By drawing parallels between the woman's experience and contemporary struggles with faith, Baxter effectively demonstrates that persistent prayer and unwavering trust in God can yield miraculous outcomes. The episode culminates in a call to action, imploring believers to actively express their faith through worship and commitment to Christ, as these are the very acts that can lead to transformation and healing. This engaging narrative not only reinforces biblical truths but also serves as a motivational impetus for listeners to cultivate a resilient faith that stands firm amidst trials.

Speaker A:Hey, what's going on?
Speaker A:It is Minister Baxter with you on today?
Speaker A:Just came to share a word with you.
Speaker A:Hope that you're having a good day on today.
Speaker A:I'm going to be coming From Matthew, chapter 15, verse 21 28.
Speaker A:Matthew, chapter 15, verses 21 through 28.
Speaker A:Father, I thank you for this word on today.
Speaker A:I thank you, Lord God, that it shall penetrate the hearts of your people.
Speaker A:I thank you, Lord God, right now that you anoint me to minister effectively.
Speaker A:Your word, Holy Spirit, have your way in this place so that you may be glorified in Jesus name.
Speaker A:Amen.
Speaker A:Let's go.
Speaker A:Matthew, chapter 15.
Speaker A: Looking at verse: Speaker A:And behold, a woman of Canaan came from that region and cried out to him, saying, have mercy on me, Lord, son of David, my daughter is severely demon possessed.
Speaker A:But he answered her, not a word.
Speaker A:And his disciples came and urged him, saying, send her away, for she cries out after us.
Speaker A:But he answered and said, I was not sent to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
Speaker A:I was not sent except to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
Speaker A:Then she came and worshiped him, saying, lord, help me.
Speaker A:But he answered and said, it is not good to take the children's bread and throw it to the little dogs.
Speaker A:And she said, yes, Lord.
Speaker A:Yet even the little dogs.
Speaker A:Even the little dogs eat the crumbs which fall from their master's table.
Speaker A:Then Jesus answered and said to her, o woman, great is your faith.
Speaker A:Let it be to you as you desire.
Speaker A:And her daughter was healed from that very hour.
Speaker A:Glory to God.
Speaker A:Hallelujah to God.
Speaker A:Praise God.
Speaker A:What I want to talk to you today about is great faith, great faith.
Speaker A:You need to decide on today that you're going to begin to move in great faith.
Speaker A:You need to decide on today that you're not going to look to the left nor look to the right, but you're going to put all your trust in Jesus.
Speaker A:Hallelujah to God, that you're going to put all your.
Speaker A:All your chips, you're going to.
Speaker A:All your chips are going on to him.
Speaker A:See, one of the things that we've done in the past, a lot of us have done in the past, is that we have kind of spread ourselves thin.
Speaker A:We have put some belief over here.
Speaker A:We have put some belief over there.
Speaker A:We put belief in this person and belief in that person.
Speaker A:And instead of just totally dependent on God, we have backup plans.
Speaker A:Anybody familiar with the backup Plan.
Speaker A:Well, if this don't work, I'll just do this.
Speaker A:And if that don't work, then I'll do that.
Speaker A:And then if this don't come through, then I'll do this, that, and the other.
Speaker A:The problem with that is you never really put all your faith in God.
Speaker A:The Bible says, without faith, it is impossible to please him.
Speaker A:Isn't that what it says?
Speaker A:Without faith, it is impossible to.
Speaker A:To please him.
Speaker A:For he who comes to him must believe that he is and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
Speaker A:Notice what it said?
Speaker A:You must believe that he is and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently.
Speaker A:Diligently.
Speaker A:Let me say that again.
Speaker A:Diligently seek him.
Speaker A:See, when you got various backup plans and you putting your trust in this person and that person, or you got a little bit over here, a little bit over there, you can't diligently seek him.
Speaker A:You can't.
Speaker A:And whether you know it or not, your faith isn't as strong as you thought it was.
Speaker A:Because if it was, why would you have a backup plan?
Speaker A:Oh, come on, somebody.
Speaker A:I'm not talking about strategy.
Speaker A:I'm talking about what you put your belief in.
Speaker A:Oh, goodness.
Speaker A:Sometimes our strategy is too complicated.
Speaker A:Can I say that?
Speaker A:Sometimes the strategy is too complicated.
Speaker A:You know, like I said, we have backup plan for the backup plan and a backup plan for the backup plan when we should be putting all of our trust in God.
Speaker A:If you know that God is a waymaker, then you should put all your trust in God.
Speaker A:If you believe God is a provider, then you should be putting all your trust in God.
Speaker A:Amen.
Speaker A:So you got to ask yourself, what is it that you believe?
Speaker A:You got to ask yourself, who is it that you believe?
Speaker A:You know, they used to have that song a long time ago.
Speaker A:Whose report did you do?
Speaker A:You believe, and then, you know, you have the callback.
Speaker A:We shall believe the report of the Lord.
Speaker A:Okay, well, if that's what you believe, the report of the Lord, or let me put it like this, you believe the word of God, then what's with all the backup plans?
Speaker A:Why do you, you know, you don't have all your eggs in this one basket.
Speaker A:Glory to God.
Speaker A:You are going to be okay.
Speaker A:But you gotta put all of your trust in God.
Speaker A:Hallelujah.
Speaker A:The Bible says In Philippians, chapter 4, verse 13, it says, I can do all things.
Speaker A:I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
Speaker A:I can do all things through who through Christ that strengthens me.
Speaker A:What is all that's everything.
Speaker A:I can do all things through Christ that strengthens me.
Speaker A:Hallelujah.
Speaker A:Philippians, chapter 2, verse 9 through 11 says, Therefore God also has highly exalted him and given him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee shall bow of those in heaven and of those on earth and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Speaker A:So every knee has to bow.
Speaker A:Hallelujah.
Speaker A:There is no name above the name Jesus.
Speaker A:Glory to God.
Speaker A:I could stop right there.
Speaker A:There is no name above the name Jesus.
Speaker A:Jesus name is over everything.
Speaker A:Jesus name covers all.
Speaker A:Jesus name has victory over all.
Speaker A:At the name of Jesus, every knee has to bow.
Speaker A:No matter who it is, no matter what it is, if it has a name, it's under the name of Jesus.
Speaker A:It's under the authority of Jesus.
Speaker A:Glory to God.
Speaker A:And guess what?
Speaker A:He gave you that authority.
Speaker A:He gave you that authority.
Speaker A:In Luke, chapter 10, verse 19, it says, Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions and over all the power of the enemy.
Speaker A:And nothing shall by any means hurt you.
Speaker A:Glory to God.
Speaker A:Hallelujah.
Speaker A:Nothing shall by any means hurt you.
Speaker A:And guess what?
Speaker A:Nothing by any means shall have power over you.
Speaker A:Hallelujah.
Speaker A:It's all about the name of Jesus.
Speaker A:Glory to God.
Speaker A:It's all about the name of Jesus.
Speaker A:One of the songs I love to hear is from the late Rance Allen, the late Rance Allen, and it was Kirk Franklin, and they had this song called Something about the Name Jesus.
Speaker A:Glory to God.
Speaker A:Something about the name Jesus.
Speaker A:It is the sweetest name I know.
Speaker A:Glory to God.
Speaker A:Whenever you hear somebody say, there's something about that name or there's something about this, that that means that they can't quite put their finger on it.
Speaker A:They can't quite describe it because it's indescribable.
Speaker A:There's just something about it.
Speaker A:And so when he says there's something about the name Jesus, I understand what he's talking about.
Speaker A:Because that name Jesus has brought me through some dark moments in my life.
Speaker A:Glory to God.
Speaker A:That name Jesus has caused healing in my body.
Speaker A:That name Jesus has caused my family to be okay.
Speaker A:That name Jesus oh, when I call on the name of Jesus Hallelujah to God.
Speaker A:That's why the enemy tries to get you to stop calling on the name Hallelujah.
Speaker A:That's why the enemy tries to stop you from calling on the name Jesus.
Speaker A:Because when you call on the name of Jesus.
Speaker A:God.
Speaker A:Demons tremble.
Speaker A:Hallelujah.
Speaker A:Demons get nervous.
Speaker A:When you bring Jesus into the atmosphere, Satan gets nervous.
Speaker A:Hallelujah.
Speaker A:You never, you should never stop calling on the name Jesus.
Speaker A:Hallelujah.
Speaker A:Have you ever noticed that whenever you're under attack, the enemy tries to take you out of his presence?
Speaker A:A lot of times many of us will stop going to church.
Speaker A:We'll stop getting into the word.
Speaker A:Why?
Speaker A:Because all of that, it has Jesus in it.
Speaker A:Jesus is in the atmosphere.
Speaker A:And so he tries to separate you so that you can't call on that name.
Speaker A:I want to encourage somebody, don't stop calling on the name.
Speaker A:I don't care where you are in your life or what level you are in your life or what's going on in your life.
Speaker A:Never stop calling on the name of Jesus.
Speaker A:As long as you can still call on the name Jesus, you can come out of your situation.
Speaker A:Glory to God.
Speaker A:Hallelujah.
Speaker A:I'm preaching to myself now.
Speaker A:As long as I can call on the name of Jesus, as long as my mind doesn't get so bombarded that I forget about the name.
Speaker A:Hallelujah.
Speaker A:To God.
Speaker A:I can come.
Speaker A:Oh God, I can come out of any situation and every situation that the enemy tries to put me in.
Speaker A:Hallelujah.
Speaker A:And so when we look at this Canaanite woman, Hallelujah.
Speaker A:Back in.
Speaker A:Let me get here.
Speaker A:Back In Matthew, chapter 15, 21 and 28, when we look at this Canaanite woman, she is fighting a devil in her house.
Speaker A:Glory to God.
Speaker A:The enemy is in her house.
Speaker A:Now notice this.
Speaker A:The enemy is not attacking her, but the enemy is in the house.
Speaker A:Uh huh.
Speaker A:She's not the one who's oppressed or possessed by the devil.
Speaker A:But the enemy is in the house.
Speaker A:Uh huh.
Speaker A:See, a lot of times people don't worry about what's going on until it really affects them personally.
Speaker A:Yeah, sometimes we see the devil in our house.
Speaker A:We see that the enemy is infiltrating.
Speaker A:We see things are shifting in the house and we ignore it because they haven't shifted on us.
Speaker A:Let me give you an example.
Speaker A:As with this Canaanite woman, we see that the enemy is fighting our children.
Speaker A:And instead of getting down to the nitty gritty, then instead of addressing the issue, then we ignore it and we just say that our child is crazy or our child need to do better.
Speaker A:And so we ignore the attack until the attack comes on us.
Speaker A:I want to tell somebody on today, don't you ever wait until the attack hits you personally.
Speaker A:Whenever you see the enemy, address them.
Speaker A:Then why wait for the enemy to do more damage.
Speaker A:When you see he's trying to infiltrate your house, you need to start pleading the blood.
Speaker A:Then you need to start calling on the name of Jesus.
Speaker A:Then this woman, although she's not being oppressed by the devil, she sees that her daughter is being oppressed or depressed or possessed.
Speaker A:That's the word I was looking for.
Speaker A:Possessed by the devil.
Speaker A:And so she goes to see Jesus.
Speaker A:She's heard about him, she's heard what he's capable of, and so she goes to seek him out.
Speaker A:Now I got to applaud this woman because going to see Jesus means that she's not playing.
Speaker A:She's serious about getting deliverance in her house.
Speaker A:This woman is a Canaanite woman and she is not even, shall I say, on Jesus radar.
Speaker A:Some would say she should not even know about Jesus.
Speaker A:Or why don't she pray to one of her other gods?
Speaker A:Uh huh.
Speaker A:But when you see a problem and you see the problem solver, you should go see the problem solver.
Speaker A:Some of us, we need to come out of our comfort zone.
Speaker A:Can I say that we need to come out of our comfort zone?
Speaker A:You may not have known the Lord like somebody else know him, but when you get desperate enough, when you get tired enough, you won't let anything deter you from getting relief.
Speaker A:Hallelujah to God.
Speaker A:Praise God.
Speaker A:And so she goes to see this Jesus.
Speaker A:She's came from another town seeking out this Jesus that she's heard about.
Speaker A:And when she finally gets in his presence, she says, jesus or son of David, have mercy on me.
Speaker A:And when she addresses Jesus, here's the kicker.
Speaker A:Jesus doesn't say anything.
Speaker A:Have you ever been there?
Speaker A:Have you ever felt like Jesus didn't hear you?
Speaker A:Have you ever felt like Jesus is ignoring you?
Speaker A:Now it's one thing for you to acknowledge me and then tell me there's nothing I can do for you, but it's another thing when I call your name and I feel like you're ignoring me.
Speaker A:Have you ever been there?
Speaker A:And see, this is the issue with some of us now.
Speaker A:Although we say we serve him, although we are Christian, although we say we believe him, some of us have the attitude of I called on him and he didn't even answer.
Speaker A:I called on him and he didn't even acknowledge me.
Speaker A:Watch this.
Speaker A:I called on him and the thing I was calling him about got worse.
Speaker A:What are we to do when we call on Jesus and it seems like he doesn't holler back?
Speaker A:Furthermore, when you read the scripture, it tells you that Jesus ignored Him.
Speaker A:And now that he's ignored him, here comes his disciples and they feel empowered to add their 2 cents and watch what they say.
Speaker A:They say send her away for she crieth after us.
Speaker A:Now I don't know what your Bible says, but my Bible says she wasn't even talking to them.
Speaker A:Uh huh.
Speaker A:She wasn't even talking to them.
Speaker A:She didn't address them.
Speaker A:She didn't say anything to Peter or John.
Speaker A:She didn't say nothing to none of them.
Speaker A:She was talking to Jesus.
Speaker A:But because he has ignored her, now his disciples feel empowered to say send her away.
Speaker A:They're telling Jesus, they're telling their leader, send her away for she cries after us as if they were already in the picture.
Speaker A:Now I'm rejected by the person I was looking for or I'm not even rejected, I'm ignored by the person I was looking for.
Speaker A:But now the people that saw me get ignored, now they chiming in with their two cents.
Speaker A:Have you been there?
Speaker A:Oh, let me put it like this.
Speaker A:People know that you supposedly serve a God who can do anything.
Speaker A:And it seems like God has ignored you.
Speaker A:And now they're looking at you saying I told you so.
Speaker A:Now they're looking at you saying ain't nothing to you.
Speaker A:Now they're looking at you saying you deserve it.
Speaker A:Now they're saying, oh, oh, you just need to go on about your business.
Speaker A:This is what she's dealing with.
Speaker A:Now I'm embarrassed in front of the people that I called your name in front of.
Speaker A:Let me put it like this.
Speaker A:The people who know I serve you are now talking about me.
Speaker A:You've given a reason for my haters to talk.
Speaker A:For many people this would have been the last straw.
Speaker A:For many people they would have left right then.
Speaker A:When he ignored them the first time.
Speaker A:When he ignored her the first time, people would have got up and left.
Speaker A:You not going to talk to me?
Speaker A:Okay, I'm out.
Speaker A:Now the watches, the hangarounds are now disrespecting me or now telling me to go, I'm out of here.
Speaker A:But what did this woman do?
Speaker A:She did not leave.
Speaker A:As a matter of fact, it doesn't even say she got angry.
Speaker A:Oh Lord, when you got to do what you got to do, you learn how to maintain your composure.
Speaker A:I want you to get that, I want you to write that down.
Speaker A:I want you to memorize that.
Speaker A:When you got to do what you got to do, you learn how to maintain your composure.
Speaker A:This woman has been ignored by Jesus.
Speaker A:This woman has been told to be to get out of there by the disciples.
Speaker A:The scripture further on tells you that Jesus told her, look, I'm not even sent to you.
Speaker A:I'm not even concerned about you.
Speaker A:So now I'm ignored.
Speaker A:I'm.
Speaker A:I'm talked about by the disciples, and now you're rejecting me.
Speaker A:And in all of that, this woman maintained her composition because a woman's got to do what a woman's got to do.
Speaker A:A man's got to do what a man's got to do.
Speaker A:A believer's got to do what a believer's got to do.
Speaker A:I want to tell somebody, just because you got rejected the first time doesn't mean it's not going to happen for you.
Speaker A:Just because he didn't answer you the first time or answer you in the way that you expected him to answer you or answer you in the time frame that you expected him to answer you, just because it didn't happen like you wanted, it doesn't mean it's not for you.
Speaker A:Glory to God.
Speaker A:See, this is where faith kicks in.
Speaker A:This is where true Bible faith kicks in.
Speaker A:This will make you see exactly where you are.
Speaker A:Because some of us got just that church faith where we can talk faith as long as we're in church.
Speaker A:But can you talk faith at home?
Speaker A:Can you talk faith on your sickbed?
Speaker A:Can you talk faith in the middle of a divorce?
Speaker A:Can you talk faith when your child is acting crazy?
Speaker A:Can you talk faith when all the odds are stacked against you?
Speaker A:Can you talk faith when it seems like everybody, when it seems like the Lord is not answering you?
Speaker A:Can you still believe?
Speaker A:Will you still yet believe and say, I know too much about him to say, he's going to leave me out here?
Speaker A:This woman kept the faith.
Speaker A:She was not deterred, even though she didn't hear what she wanted to hear.
Speaker A:And this is something.
Speaker A:What she did next is something we got to learn how to do.
Speaker A:In the scripture, it says in verse.
Speaker A:What is that?
Speaker A:Let's look back.
Speaker A:In verse 25 it says, Then she came after being rejected.
Speaker A:Now, then she came and worshiped him, saying, lord, help me.
Speaker A:Now, I want to put a spin on this because I want to bring something up to your attention.
Speaker A:Verse 25 says, Then she came and worshiped him, comma, saying, lord, help me.
Speaker A:Notice after the rejection, she didn't say, lord, help me, and then worshiped him.
Speaker A:Glory.
Speaker A:But she worshiped him and then came back and said, or after she worshiped him, saying, lord help me.
Speaker A:What I'm trying to get you to see is the worship came first.
Speaker A:See a Lot of us, we.
Speaker A:Oh, God.
Speaker A:We worship after the fact.
Speaker A:We praise him after the fact.
Speaker A:But this woman got on her knees and worshiped him and then said, lord, help me.
Speaker A:Can I tell you something?
Speaker A:Your worship is about to set you free.
Speaker A:Hallelujah.
Speaker A:Your worship is about to set you free.
Speaker A:Your worship is about to get you a yes.
Speaker A:Hallelujah.
Speaker A:If you can learn how to worship in the midst of a bad situation, if you can learn how to worship in the midst of rejection, your worship is going to get you a yes.
Speaker A:That's why that song that William Murphy came out with years ago, it's such a powerful song.
Speaker A:Praise is what I do.
Speaker A:Because the song says, I'll praise you in the good and in the bad.
Speaker A:I'll praise you when I'm happy or when I'm sad.
Speaker A:I'll praise you in all that I go through.
Speaker A:In all that I go through.
Speaker A:In all that I go through.
Speaker A:Because praise is what I do.
Speaker A:Hallelujah to God.
Speaker A:See?
Speaker A:See, Let me tell you something.
Speaker A:I've been married for a while now.
Speaker A:I've been married for 15 years now.
Speaker A:And my wife loves me.
Speaker A:But you know something?
Speaker A:Her greatest acts of love is when I didn't give her what she wanted.
Speaker A:Let me explain.
Speaker A:When I couldn't give her the new car and she still treated me right, she still loved me.
Speaker A:That was her greatest expression of love.
Speaker A:When she still cooked for me.
Speaker A:When she's not necessarily happy with me, it made me give her a yes.
Speaker A:When she still loved me.
Speaker A:When all the bills wasn't paid.
Speaker A:Glory to God.
Speaker A:It made me want to pay everything.
Speaker A:It made me go out there and hustle even more.
Speaker A:Why?
Speaker A:Because I see where her heart is.
Speaker A:I see where her love is.
Speaker A:It's not in what I've done for her, but it's because she loves me.
Speaker A:I wonder what would happen if more people showed God how much they love him.
Speaker A:Or let me put it like this.
Speaker A:I wonder what would happen if we showed God love despite what we're going through.
Speaker A:If we learned how to praise and worship God.
Speaker A:Before the miracle happened, this woman got before Jesus and worshiped him.
Speaker A:This Canaanite woman who's not even supposed to be worshiping Jesus, shouldn't even believe in him.
Speaker A:He's not called to her.
Speaker A:She went into worship and made Jesus scream.
Speaker A:O woman, great is your faith.
Speaker A:What did we say?
Speaker A:But without faith, it is impossible to please him.
Speaker A:It was her worship.
Speaker A:Her worship.
Speaker A:Glory to God.
Speaker A:Let me.
Speaker A:Let me.
Speaker A:Let me tell you this part here.
Speaker A:Her posture.
Speaker A:Because she went into worship.
Speaker A:Her posture in the physical was in correlation of what she was in the spiritual.
Speaker A:She humbled herself.
Speaker A:She said, only you can do it.
Speaker A:I'm not in a place where I feel like I can do it on my own.
Speaker A:Only you can do this.
Speaker A:She worshiped him, and her worship got her a yes.
Speaker A:She moved in great faith.
Speaker A:I want to ask you, what are you doing on today?
Speaker A:What act of faith are you showing God?
Speaker A:Let me say that again.
Speaker A:What act of faith are you showing God?
Speaker A:We can all say we love him, but what is your great move of faith?
Speaker A:What are you showing?
Speaker A:That you believe God and be quite honest.
Speaker A:That's what he's waiting on.
Speaker A:That's what he's waiting on.
Speaker A:How many of us spend time with him when we're not in trouble?
Speaker A:How many of us come to him first when we get in trouble?
Speaker A:Because a lot of times he's our last option?
Speaker A:How many of us boldly say, God, I need your help, and boldly professional.
Speaker A:Our need for him in front of people.
Speaker A:It's time to move in great faith.
Speaker A:The times that we're in right now, it's going to take great faith to live in it, to make it move in great faith.
Speaker A:All right.
Speaker A:Hey.
Speaker A:This has been minister Baxter Remnant Ministries.
Speaker A:We'll see you next time, Sam.
